Job summary

Fort Bend ISD is seeking a dedicated Teacher Special Education for ABC Middle School to deliver instruction in academic, behavior, social and self-care skills. The role emphasizes structured environments, IEP compliance, and collaboration with general education teachers to implement TEKS-aligned content.

The position requires strong planning, communication and behavior management, with duties including ARD preparation, progress reporting, and supporting students with diverse needs in UIL

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Texas TEA teaching certification required.
• Valid Special Education EC-12 certification required.
• De-Escalation/Restraint Certification (CPI) preferred or required.
• Coaching experience preferred if coaching a UIL sport.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based on student needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration with families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students with disabilities using accommodations and modifications.
• Prepare sequential, meaningful lesson plans aligned to IEP goals.
• Implement behavioral strategies per ARD; include safe restraint when necessary.
• Use data to monitor progress and adjust instructional plans.
• Utilize assistive technology to support learning and communication.
• Fully implement IEPS and collaborate with general education staff.
• Support basic student needs related to self-care and safety.
• Participate in ARD meetings and progress reporting.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to develop present levels and goals.
