Job summary

Wadsworth City Schools at Wadsworth Intermediate School in Wadsworth, Ohio is hiring two Special Ed Student Attendants. The role supports students with disabilities during the school day, with a 6.25 hour schedule and 184 days.

Pay rate is $16.65 to $19.65 per hour. Requirements include a high school diploma, possible Ohio Educational Aide Permit, and ability to lift up to 75 pounds; CPR/First Aid training preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of child care or aide certification preferred.
• Ability to obtain an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
• Able to use a computer.
• Good organization skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other personnel.
• Ability to perform clerical skills including, but not limited to filing, copying, and record keeping.
• Must be punctual.
• A working knowledge of devices and equipment commonly used in public schools.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to successfully complete CPR/First Aid training.
• Ability to work with a variety of student disabilities.
• Ability to perform all items as listed in the essential duties.
• Experience working with children with emotional and physical disabilities preferred.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to operate wheelchairs and other mechanical devices designed to aid the student with a disability; or possess the ability to learn.
• Ability to communicate clearly and articulatively.
• Validation of qualifications as determined by interview.
• Other relevant criteria determined by the Board of Education, Superintendent and/or designee.
• Ability to attend Restraint training per ORC.

Responsibilities

• Support special education students in classroom and activities.
• Assist with behavior support and restraints as trained.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, copying, and record keeping as needed.
