Job summary

Kelso School District seeks a Para-Educator for Special Education (LEEP) at Barnes Elementary School. The position runs 6.75 hours daily from 8:30am to 3:45pm, totaling 190 school days per year.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance under the School Employee Benefits Board rules. Hours may reduce for Wednesday early release, conferences, holidays and last day of school; assignments and building may change per district needs.

Qualifications

• Must have valid first aid and CPR cards (or obtain upon employment) and keep current.
• Must possess valid CPI training (or obtain upon employment).
• Previous experience or training with students with disabilities preferred.
• Physical ability to lift/position/transfer students up to 21 years with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with maintaining records.
• Submit IEPs and progress reports timely; document services per IEP.
• Assist with daily hygiene needs for students with disabilities when required.
• Supervise students in cafeteria, classrooms, grounds, and community.
• Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; uphold rules and policies.
• Attend classroom team meetings and participate in in-service offerings.

Education

High school diploma

Associate degree or higher

Passing PESB assessment (one of approved tests)

WS EPI apprenticeship or 72 quarter/48 semester credits (100 level+)
