Job summary

Farmington Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking a Special Ed Para Centerbased (32 hrs/week) at Akin Road Elementary to support teachers and students with disabilities.

The role involves assisting with instructional and physical needs, working with individuals or small groups to reinforce skills, and adapting to each student's medical, physical, communicative, and emotional requirements, including transfers and positioning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Must meet minimum education requirements: HS diploma or equivalent; AA degree or 60 credits or para pro test.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in meeting the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce motor, academic, social, self-care or communication skills under the teacher's direction.
• Help devise strategies for reinforcing skills based on student needs, interests and abilities.
• Support learning by adapting to each student's medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including transferring, lifting, and positioning.
