Job summary

Farmington Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking a Special Ed Para Centerbased (32 hrs/week) at Akin Road Elementary to support teachers and students with disabilities.

The role involves assisting with instructional and physical needs, working with individuals or small groups to reinforce skills, and adapting to each student's medical, physical, communicative, and emotional requirements, including transfers and positioning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Must meet minimum education requirements: HS diploma or equivalent; AA degree or 60 credits or para pro test.

Summary:Provide assistance to teachers in meeting the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities.
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce motor, academic, social, self-care or communication skills under the direction of the teacher.
Assisting the teacher(s) in devising strategies for reinforcing skills based on understanding of students needs, interests and abilities.
Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional need.
Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, and positioning.
