Job summary

Waco Independent School District is seeking a Teacher – Special Ed at West Avenue Elementary to manage and implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies. You will provide specially-designed instruction and collaborate with general education staff to support student outcomes.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and Texas SPED certification, with experience in ARD/IEP processes and data-driven instruction.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
Knowledge of ARD and IEP processes.
Ability to analyze data to inform instructional decisions.
Strong communication and collaboration with staff, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

Comply with all Special Education Case Manager responsibilities per district procedures.
Develop and oversee implementation of student IEPs and monitor progress.
Report progress to parents/guardians as outlined in IEPs.
Train general education teachers on implementing IEPs before and after ARD meetings.
Collaborate with general education staff to ensure services align with IEPs.
Attend ARD meetings, Case Manager Meetings, and staffings as required.
Plan and use evidence-based instructional strategies reflecting student needs.
Supervise paraprofessionals and volunteers as required.
Prepare lessons and manage classroom behavior using targeted interventions.
Establish professional communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
