Job summary

Fort Bend ISD seeks a Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students, including special education riders. You will operate school buses, perform inspections, assist students on/off the bus, and maintain discipline per district policies while coordinating with staff and families.

You may handle wheelchair lifts, safety equipment, and route documentation. The role requires a valid CDL, certification, physicals, and a compliant driving history.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Texas CDL Driver's License, Class A or B, with P and S endorsements.
• Texas School Bus Driver Certification must be enrolled in first available certification class.
• Pass an Annual Physical Per DOT.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Acceptable driving record per TEA standards.
• Minimum of 1 year commercial driving experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Ability to manage student behavior and assist special needs students.

Responsibilities

• Transport students on assigned routes, following safety laws and Fort Bend ISD policies.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report accidents and maintenance promptly.
• Assist special education students on and off the bus; operate wheelchair lift and related equipment.
• Maintain clean, fueled interiors and safe seating, and ensure timely route adherence.
• Communicate effectively with parents, students, and administrators; complete required paperwork.
• Support safety and confidentiality in handling student information and routes.
• Follow route directions and read maps to ensure accurate travel.
