Job summary

RSU 1 in Bath, Maine is seeking Bus Aide(s) to support students during transportation. This hourly role reports to the Special Education Director and Building Principal, with training provided to start.

Hours run 6:45-8:30 a.m. and 1:45-3:30 p.m. Monday–Friday, with a Wednesday AM shift added. Responsibilities include safety during loading and transport, supervision, and equipment securing, plus strong communication with drivers and families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) is required.
• Experience working with children, especially with special needs, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transport.
• Provide supervision, redirection, and behavioral support as needed.
• Assist with securing safety belts, wheelchairs, or adaptive equipment.
• Maintain positive, respectful communication with students, bus driver, parents, and school staff.
