This is an exciting opportunity for someone with L&D experience to join a new and growing team. We are opening a Special Delivery Unit in Fall of 2026 and we are looking to have RNs that are ready to be a part of this new innovative department. As part of the comprehensive fetal care vision, Rady Children’s will be opening a Special Delivery Unit where families with high‑risk babies, low‑risk mothers can receive fetal intervention and deliver in the same place their baby needs to be to receive their specialized care after delivery.
The Special Delivery Unit (SDU) will consist of triage, LDRP’s and ORs. This will include ground‑breaking fetal intervention procedures. The role requires ensuring quality care is provided according to policies and procedures and completing other duties as assigned. Assist in both operating room and delivery room as needed within scope of practice, all while focused on our family‑centered care.
The (Special Delivery Unit) SDU registered nurse cares and treats the maternal population during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum. The role requires the nurse to be a resource in the unit during a designated shift, assist in patient flow/placement, ensure quality care is provided according to policies and procedures and completing other duties as assigned. Functions as an expert practitioner whose intuition and skill arise from comprehensive knowledge thoroughly grounded in experience. Able to identify situations, formulate solutions, initiate change, and monitor outcomes. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the total situation and a clear understanding of how their unit aligns with the strategic goals of the organization.
