Job summary

UCLA Library Preservation & Conservation is seeking a Kress Assistant Conservator to independently perform entry to intermediate conservation treatments on Special Collection materials, including examination, documentation, sampling, and housing decisions.

Reporting to the Head of Preservation & Conservation, you will interact with staff, curators, and librarians on handling and treatment, participate in outreach, and pursue ongoing conservation research within a structured, limited-term

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in art conservation or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience with entry- to intermediate-level conservation on library materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry- to intermediate-level conservation treatments and documentation.
• Examination, photography, and analysis of materials and housing decisions.
• Collaborate with staff, curators, and librarians on handling and prioritization.
