Job summary

Peraton is seeking an experienced Special Assistant to join the Federal Strategic Cyber Group in Arlington, VA. The role centers on executive support, coordination of SOC activities, and preparation of technical documentation and briefings.

Key responsibilities include meeting facilitation, risk management, stakeholder reporting, and liaison with Department leaders to advance projects while ensuring policy and security posture alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; 4 years may substitute for the degree.
  • Security+ certification required before start date.
  • Experience developing requirements, workflows, and systems analysis.
  • Experience reviewing and editing technical correspondence and presentations.
  • Experience engaging with executive level leadership.
  • U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain Secret/Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

Special Assistant – Peraton is hiring an experienced Special Assistant to become part of our Federal Strategic Cyber Group.

Location: On-site in Arlington, VA.

(After 90-days of employment, flex/hybrid may be considered)

In this role, you will:

  • Attend and support business consulting needs to the office leadership by providing recommendations, meeting conduct, risk and action management, and problem resolution.
  • Prepare, review and edit technical correspondence and presentations for internal/external meetings.
  • Assist in the production and publication of reports, manuals, technical procedures and other supporting cyber security related documentation.
  • Assist and support administrative managers and directors in their daily tasks.
  • Provide and enable reporting needs for office leadership to stakeholders outside of the organization including presentations and event management.
  • Provide a bridge for complex cyber issues at all levels of the Department using superlative verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Coordinate and prepare products (taskers, cables, official memoranda, etc. from internal and external organizations).
  • Gather data and information from offices, review data for accuracy and relevancy, compile information, ensure product quality (substance, format and grammar), and shepherd the product through approval processes.
  • Research, coordinate, and develop materials for special projects (unique, unforeseen, ad hoc, and urgent).
  • Engage at the executive level with Department leaders to achieve project objectives.
  • Communicate Front Office task direction to the Office level programs and coordinate final Directorate level deliverables.
  • Serve as the central coordination point for the Security Operations Center (SOC), aligning incident response, intelligence, and operational priorities with executive leadership while ensuring timely decision-making and accountability.
  • Draft, review, and standardize clear, concise responses to internal and external inquiries (e.g., leadership requests, client communications, regulatory questions), ensuring accuracy, appropriate tone, and alignment with organizational policies and security posture.
  • Drive operational efficiency by managing workflows, tracking key SOC metrics (SLAs, incident response times, escalation trends), and preparing executive-ready briefings, reports, and after-action summaries.
Qualifications

Required:

  • A bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain the following certification before start date: Security+; continued certification required as a condition of employment.
  • Efficient in developing requirements, work-flow, and systems analysis.
  • Familiar with preparing complex operating instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and editing technical correspondence and presentations for internal/external meetings.
  • Experience engaging with executive level leadership.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; ability to obtain final Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. Salary is determined by factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, education, location, and contract considerations. Depending on the position, overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus may apply.
