Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the IR department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities.**Essential Duties & Functions:**Performs Neuro IR procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols.Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the IR procedure.Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed IR policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.Prepares and administers contrast media by injection to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.Assists Radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfactionAssesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs.
