Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I/II to decontaminate, inspect, and sterilize instruments within a busy Central Sterile Department. You will work under the Sterile Processing Leadership Team to ensure compliance with IFUs and safety standards.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, CSP program enrollment, and certification within one year. Evening shift 2:45pm-11:15pm with potential signing bonus eligibility discussed during interview.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; enrollment in an accredited Central Sterile Processing Technician program.
• Certification within one year of employment.
• Two years’ experience in Sterile Processing as a Certified and Registered CST; current CRST certification; current Instrument Specialist advanced certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble and store instruments per policy/process and IFUs.
• Perform high-level disinfection and sterilization cycles with appropriate equipment.
• Record and route instruments for sterilization/HLD; monitor and document testing per manufacturer and standards.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized workspace; assist in backlog reduction and inventory control.

Collects, receives, and records soiled instrumentation, equipment, and devices for the decontamination process and associated tasks as outlined by the established policies and processes, guided by industry regulations and recommendations, and manufacturer’s instructions for use (IFUs).ii. Utilizes equipment, tools, solutions, and personal protective equipment in a prescribed manner while following universal safety precautions.iii. Maintains a clean, safe and organized workspace.iv. Other associated tasks.2. Inspection & Assemblyi. Inspects for cleanliness and performs function testing of instrumentation, equipment, and devices.ii. High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization:i.
