Job description

Job Overview:

The SPD Technician Certified performs all aspects of decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and surgical supplies and equipment distribution functions.

Qualifications:

Required:

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Current knowledge of instrumentation, cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, sterilization, packaging, and sterile supplies

Preferred:

• 1-3 years of Central Sterile Processing experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certification by IAHCSMM or the Sterile Processing board as mandated by the New Jersey State Department of Health
• Maintain certification through CEUs

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift: Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm, with every third weekend rotation
• Full-Time

Essential Functions:

• Perform activities including cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical devices, instruments, code carts, and patient care equipment
• Read/write alpha and numeric data accurately
• Assist in coordinating daily work to maximize productivity
• Address clinical needs and equipment procurement conscientiously
• Accept pressure assignments as needed
• Interact professionally with other departments and personnel, including physicians
• Learn new responsibilities and demonstrate organizational skills
• Assist with staff orientation and training
• Distribute medical/surgical supplies and equipment
• Work effectively in a high-stress, high-volume environment
• Attend relevant in-service seminars
