Job summary

The Toro Company in Bloomington, MN invites motivated GIS/data science students for a 2027 Summer Internship. You will develop tools to ingest and visualize spatial data, run site assessments, and collaborate on experiments to model customer requirements.

Ideal candidates are in a GIS/Computer/Data Science program, proficient with ArcGIS/QGIS, and familiar with MySQL/JavaScript. Internship runs May 17–Aug 6, 2027, with paid summer hours and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Junior or Senior or Masters candidate in GIS, Computer or Data Science, or relevant Science and Engineering discipline
• Proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS, or programmatic spatial data analysis tools (e.g. GDAL, GeoPandas, Shapely, Leaflet, etc.) required
• Experience with MySQL, PHP, HTML, and JavaScript preferred
• Must be motivated, self-directed, and able to communicate efficiently with team members

Responsibilities

• Develop tools to ingest, curate, model, and visualize spatial data collections
• Conduct customer site assessments using spatial data in support of improved machine performance and sustainability
• Perform literature reviews and identify potential applications for relevant models, algorithms, and methods
• Collaborate with other team members and external partners to develop and manage experiments which simulate the requirements of the customer
• Assist in development, testing, maintenance, and operation of sensing systems for landscape applications

Job description

The 2027 Summer Internship Program will run from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available to start on May 17 and participate through the duration of the program. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. What Will You Do?

What Do You Need?
