Job summary

The Toro Company, headquartered in Bloomington, MN, is seeking motivated electrical engineering students for its 2027 Summer Internship Program running May 17 to August 6. You will work with Toro’s engineering team on golf, sports fields, and siteworks systems, gaining hands-on experience under supervision of an electrical engineer.

You will evaluate components, build and test harnesses, read schematics, and collaborate cross-functionally to diagnose issues and verify specs.

Qualifications

  • Majoring in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Other engineering disciplines may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • In good academic standing.
  • Entering Junior or Senior year strongly preferred.
  • Hard working, energetic, and able to learn, collaborate, and communicate in a team.
  • Organized and proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Additional engineering software experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and knowledge of basic electrical components.
  • Experience interfacing with CANbus communication protocols preferred.

Job description

The 2027 Summer Internship Program will run from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available to start on May 17 and participate through the duration of the program. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a school/employment or any other visa, regardless of expiration date, now or in the future.

What Will You Do?

This is an exciting opportunity working with an experienced engineering team on Toro’s golf, sports fields, and siteworks systems product lines. The position offers real world work experience and an opportunity to develop skills while working under the supervision of an electrical engineer. There will be opportunity for hands‑on experience across several areas of the machine electrical system - such as motors, controllers, batteries, switches, and sensors. The intern will work on individual project(s). This position typically encompasses a large variation in the type of work performed from writing specifications and performing studies, testing and validation of electrical components and software, continuous improvement of existing products, component failure diagnostics and troubleshooting, among other responsibilities. Other summer activities could include job shadowing, a vendor visit or trip to a Toro manufacturing plant, making harnesses with an electrical designer, and planned executive talks with senior leadership.

What Do You Need?

  • Experience reading electrical schematics and knowledge of basic electrical components.

  • Competitive Pay – Competitive compensation with an anticipated hourly rate of $22–$28. Actual rates may vary based on factors such as academic standing, business function, and other relevant considerations.
