Piedmont Global Language Solutions (PGLS) offers language services consisting of interpretation, translation, transcription, language instruction, cultural sensitivity training, and localization. Our network of language professionals provides expertise in more than 200 languages, including regional dialects.

PGLS is looking for freelance Spanish medical interpreters to provide on-site (OSI) language interpretation services in the areas of Mobile (AL), Daphne (AL), Loxley (AL), Brent, Pensacola, Milton, Crestview, Niceville, Miramar Beach, Panama City, Chipley, Marianna, Quincy, Tallahassee, Monticello, Greenville, Madison, Live Oak, Lake City, and Jacksonville (FL).

These are “1099” (Independent Contractor) positions, on an as-needed basis.

Interpreter Functions:

1. Serve as an Interpreter between a wide range of people with diverse voices, accents, speaking tempos, and personalities.
2. Provide parties with clear and exact interpretations of verbal communication with no additions or omissions.
3. Provide interpretations of questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations, and other forms of verbal communication.
4. Render sight translations of documents and other written materials, as needed.
5. Impart thought, purpose, spirit, emotions, and tone of speaker from source language into target language, and vice-versa.
6. Inform relevant parties of any factor that may hinder your performance.
7. Comply with applicable ethics and standards.

Requirements

1. Hold a government-issued valid form of identification.
2. Based near the above-mentioned locations.
3. Access to a mobile phone and computer.
4. At least two (2) years of interpreting experience, paid or as a volunteer.
5. Two (2) relevant professional references that can vouch for the candidate's work as an interpreter OR one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation.
6. Proficiency in English and target language.
7. Be able to abide by the Client's specific and State mandated COVID regulations. PGLS supports several Federal Government clients and other contracts requiring a COVID vaccination or exemption for U.S. based individuals.

Desired but not required:

1. University degree in Interpretation.

If available, the interpreters may provide proof of the following:

1. Certification as a medical interpreter from a 40-hour-program or equivalent (i.e., CHIT Community, Bridging the Gap, TCI, Healthcare Interpreter Training).
2. Test results from other organizations (testing centers, other LSPs, etc.).
