Harborview Medical Center’s Interpreter Services Department is seeking a Medical Interpreter 1, Spanish for a per-diem, day shift in Seattle, WA. This role supports patient access to care and ensures accurate communication between patients and healthcare teams.

Requirements include high school graduation or equivalent and two years of interpretation experience in a clinical setting, plus certification from WA DSHS, NBCMI, or CCHI. Equivalent education or experience may substitute where allowed.

Qualifications

• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications where allowed by law, including certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide oral, sight and written interpretation for target languages (Spanish).
• Transmit information accurately between patient and provider or staff.
• Encourage direct communication between patient and provider or staff.
• Manage cross-cultural encounter complexity and assist patients with forms as needed.
