Danbury Public Schools in Danbury, CT, seeks a Long-Term Substitute to teach Spanish from August through January 31, 2027. In this role you will deliver language instruction, foster inclusive learning, and collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement.

The position requires a Connecticut World Language Spanish certification and a bachelor's in education or Spanish, with preference for experience in multicultural or urban settings.

Responsabilidades

• Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Danbury Board of Education
• Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines
• Manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment
• Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge in Spanish language and Spanish cultures
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required
• Conduct parent/teacher conferences
• Assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas for intervention if needed
• Keep parents informed of student progress through interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
• Design and implement assessments to measure progress and use data to improve instructional practices
• Maintain a positive learning environment that fosters open communication
• Encourage ethical student behavior and positive citizenship
• Participate in the selection of textbooks and instructional materials
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with staff, students, and families
• Engage in ongoing professional learning through seminars, workshops, and collaboration
• Demonstrate effective teaching methods appropriate for secondary world language instruction
