Job summary

ICA Language Services in Arlington, VA is seeking a Spanish language instructor for the NFATC. This is a full-time, hourly position at 40 hours per week, with a schedule of 7:30–4:15 and an hourly rate of $51.00.

Requirements include educated native or near-native Spanish, BA/BS or higher, 3+ years teaching adults in proficiency-based curricula, at least 1 year administering proficiency tests, and ILR level 2/2 in English. The candidate should have cultural knowledge of Spanish-speaking regions.

Spanish Language Instructor - NFATC (formerly FSI) (Education)

ICA is currently seeking a Spanish language instructor. Preferably, the candidate should have at least three years of experience teaching the Frenchlanguage in a proficiency-oriented environment to adult students. This is a full-time, hourly position40 hours per week at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (formerly FSI) in Arlington, VA.

Period of Performance: Immediate, to be determined

Schedule: 7:30-4:15 pm40 hours per week

Hourly rate: $51.00 (for LI2 position)

Job Requirements:

• Plan and conduct group and one-on-one foreign language classes using a variety of teaching techniques, aimed at the development of speaking, reading, and listening skills.
• Use provided training materials and work collaboratively with other instructors on all program-related matters.
• Adapt teaching approaches to the students' individual learning styles and needs.
• Conduct informal or formal progress evaluations and/or administer weekly quizzes and assessments to evaluate student progress.
• Integrate culture and other topics relevant to US Foreign Service Officers into teaching.
• Attend all section and other meetings as appropriate.
• Incorporate the use of instructional technology into the program.
• Perform other teaching and administrative duties, as needed, under the guidance of the Training Manager(s) and Supervisor(s).

Required Qualifications:

• Educated native or near-native speaker of the Spanishlanguage.
• BA/BS, MA/MS, or PhD, or foreign equivalent degree(s) in any field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching adult students the Frenchlanguage in a group setting.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching foreign language using proficiency-based or task-based curricula.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience administering proficiency-based assessments (i.e., FSI test, DLPT, ACTFL OPI, etc.).
• A minimum English proficiency level of a 2/2 on the ILR proficiency scale.
• Must possess the cultural background and knowledge specific to the country where the Spanishlanguage is spoken.
