Job summary

Newton South High School seeks a Long Term Substitute Spanish teacher to deliver the curriculum across levels in an immersion-style class setting. The role includes communicating with parents and administrators, and supporting World Language Department initiatives.

The substitute covers classes during a leave from 10/18/26 to 1/27/27, teaching four classes at various levels and contributing to a diverse learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and appropriate DESE teaching license.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to use technology effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement curriculum consistent with World Language Department goals.
• Prepare and deliver instructional lessons with measurable outcomes.
• Deliver instruction primarily in Spanish as the target language.
• Address diverse student needs across socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Differentiate instruction and implement accommodations per IEPs as needed.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor proficiency progress.
• Incorporate technology to support learning, including digital language tools.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lessons and assessments.
