Job summary

The Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission is seeking a qualified Spanish interpreter to support hearings by providing consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for claimants and attorneys.

Responsibilities include translating Workers' Compensation documents, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality, and assisting the Interpreter Program Officer with scheduling and coverage to maintain smooth hearing operations.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Three years of experience providing formal interpretation and translation services between English and a second language.
• Notes: substitutions allowed for education/experience per policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide verbal interpretation in Spanish for hearings in consecutive and simultaneous modes.
• Translate Workers' Compensation documents from Spanish to English.
• Assist IPO by rescheduling interpreter schedules and ensuring availability for hearings.
