Job summary

COUNTY OF LEHIGH is seeking a Court Interpreter to accurately interpret court proceedings for individuals with limited English proficiency. The role requires interpreting in English and Spanish, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to court protocols.

Reports to the District Court Administrator and Deputy Court Administrator in Allentown, PA. Typical duties include interpreting in all modes, translating documents, coordinating contracted interpreters, and participating in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of courtroom interpreting experience.
• G.E.D. or High School Diploma.
• Roster on Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts Interpreter or other state program acceptable.
• Proficient with standard office software (Word/Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Interpret in sight, consecutive, and simultaneous modes in court proceedings and related events.
• Interpret in courthouse departments/offices as needed.
• Translate documents orally and in writing for individuals with limited English proficiency.
• Attend ongoing training per applicable rules.
• Coordinate interpreters schedules and enter requests into the Pennsylvania Language Access Database.
• Perform other related work as required.
