Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Spacesuit Test Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the xEMU Project Mgmnt & Systems Engineering section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least one (1) year of relevant experience. The position level will be determined based on business needs at the time of hire.

International travel may be required. Benefits may include straight time overtime, a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or one telework day per week.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform project and test engineering functions for EVA spacesuit design, development, procurement, manufacture, test, and certification.
  • Develop essential documentation for tests including test plans, hazard analyses, procedures, and review documentation.
  • Design tests and test rigs, identifying instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Coordinate test activities with NASA test facilities.
  • Set up and execute tests, preparing reports on results.
  • Become a certified Suit Test Engineer and lead spacesuit testing.
  • Plan and troubleshoot hardware issues related to spacesuit hardware and test support hardware.
  • Apply engineering techniques to analyze and evaluate broad scope problems and data.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and at least one (1) year of related experience.
  • Ability to coordinate support across technical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design, drawings, material selection, and testing procedures.
  • Experience as a project or test engineer.
  • Experience with NASA testing processes.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical hardware and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with oxygen or life support systems, or LabView programming is a plus.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required. Candidates must pass a U.S. government background check. The employer can select at any level based on business needs.

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Reporting to: Senior Project Manager.

This is a hybrid role requiring both remote work and commuting to an office, with schedules determined by the manager.

Physical Requirements

May include lifting up to 20 pounds, climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, standing, repetitive arm/hand movements, and sitting with back support. Reasonable accommodations can be provided.
