Job summary

Associates Systems LLC is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our Kennedy Space Center team onsite in Florida. You will support development, analysis, integration, verification, testing, and operation of spacecraft mechanical systems, including docking, separation, and cargo systems.

The role involves evaluating requirements, performing mechanical analyses, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address technical challenges across spacecraft subsystems.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in mechanical systems, structures, aerospace hardware, spacecraft systems, or related fields.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Creo, NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
  • Experience with mechanical/structural analysis methods, including FEA.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate mechanical system requirements, designs, CAD models, test plans, and technical data for adequacy and compliance.
  • Perform independent mechanical analysis to support design, integration, and system performance assessments.
  • Support mechanical/docking, separation/ordnance, mechanisms, payload, and cargo engineering activities as program needs require.
  • Evaluate mechanical interfaces with structures, thermal, electrical, propulsion, avionics, mission design, and other spacecraft systems.
  • Support manufacturing, integration, qualification, and testing activities, including evaluation of test results and resolution of issues.
  • Support requirements verification, technical reviews, and development of variances, exceptions, waivers, and other dispositions.
  • Identify technical risks and communicate findings to engineering and program leadership.
  • Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
