Job summary

Helogen in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to design and develop spaceflight bioinstrumentation hardware from concept to deployment. You will own hardware development and work with a small, cross-functional team to iterate rapidly and scale fabrication processes.

You will design, analyze, prototype, test, and document electromechanical and microfluidic systems, applying rapid prototyping and contributing to DFx and production readiness.

Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical and structural analysis.
  • Strong CAD modeling and design capabilities.
  • Understanding of materials properties, especially polymers.
  • Familiarity with DFM principles and CAM processes.
  • Proficient in rapid prototyping methods (FDM, SLA, laser cutting, machining).
  • Experience with ANSYS or similar tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze mechanical hardware for spaceflight bioinstrumentation.
  • Develop, test, and document system prototypes.
  • Apply rapid prototyping techniques to refine designs.
  • Create CAD models, drawings, and fabrication docs.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing for DFx and production transfer.
  • Contribute to Assembly, Integration, and Test of full flight systems.
