Job description

Helogen is hiring a Facilities & Operations Technician to help maintain and operate our Los Angeles engineering and manufacturing facility. You'll join a small team of engineers, scientists, builders, and operators working to unlock the potential of the microgravity environment for industrial applications. We value execution over perfection, clarity over complexity, and ownership over handholding. We move quickly, learn fast, and adapt as the company evolves.

In this role, you'll be responsible for keeping our facility and operations running smoothly. You'll manage shipping and receiving, perform equipment maintenance and repairs, set up workstations, and proactively solve problems. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is mechanically inclined, resourceful, organized, and comfortable taking initiative. Your work will give our engineering and manufacturing teams the support they need to focus on building the future of industry in space.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, including receiving, inspecting, labeling, packaging, pickups, and shipping logistics; track deliveries and ensure equipment and materials reach the appropriate teams
  • Organize and maintain inventory, storage areas, tools, materials, and facility supplies
  • Perform routine facility and preventive maintenance on shop equipment, tools, workspaces and machinery, and maintain service records
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical, plumbing, lighting, and other facility issues; coordinate with qualified contractors and service vendors for specialized repairs and facility services
  • Assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machines, compressors, 3D printers, and other manufacturing equipment
  • Help install, position, and set up equipment, workstations, workbenches, shelving, storage systems, and other facility fixtures
  • Support facility improvements, workspace changes, and equipment installations, including moving and positioning equipment using appropriate handling equipment or professional rigging services when needed
  • Coordinate cleaning, waste disposal, and other routine facility services; make local supply runs, pickups, and deliveries as needed
  • Keep the facility, equipment, and shared workspaces clean, safe, organized, and ready for use by proactively identifying and resolving any potential issues
Requirements:
  • 3+ years hands‑on experience in facilities maintenance, equipment maintenance, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, or a related field
  • Naturally handy, with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how things work, diagnose problems, and make basic repairs
  • Detail‑oriented and organized; able to accurately track shipments, inventory, and maintain updated service records
  • Proficient using hand tools and basic equipment safely; comfortable assembling furniture, setting up workstations, and handling general repairs
  • Resourceful and proactive, with the ability to identify problems, find practical solutions, and take initiative without constant direction
  • Reliable and responsive, with a strong sense of ownership over the facility and day‑to‑day operational needs
  • Collaborative and flexible, willing to jump in on a range of tasks as priorities change
  • Clean, neat, and conscientious, with a strong sense of ownership over maintaining an orderly and safe work environment
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Current valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Nice to have:
  • Familiarity with working on or maintaining CNC machines, compressors, 3D printers, and other manufacturing equipment
  • Experience supporting a fast‑paced company where priorities shift frequently, responsibilities are varied, and needs are often urgent
