Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a student engineer intern in Houston to assist with the design, development, test, and evaluation of spaceflight hardware components across programs. You will work on structures, mechanisms, crew systems interior hardware, and mockups under the guidance of experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on CAD modeling, basic analyses, prototype assembly, and thorough documentation. This temporary internship runs from June 1 to August 20 and requires strong organization

Qualifications

• Rising junior, senior, or graduate student in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Coursework or project experience in statics/dynamics/materials science.
• Exposure to CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) in coursework or projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, test, and evaluation of structural and mechanical components for an assigned hardware program under mentorship from engineers.
• Perform analyses using hand calculations, FEA, and CAD modeling.
• Assist with prototype assembly, integration, and test activities.
• Document design, analysis, and test results for internal reviews.
• Present results of analyses and tests to the team.
• Support data collection and organization for ongoing projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support program objectives.
• Communicate project progress and issues to stakeholders.
