Job summary

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer and Facilitator to join the Procurement Quality Assurance Group. You will coordinate HRCRs and SECRs, facilitate reviews, and track actions to keep mission schedules on track.

You will also perform Hardware Quality Assurance Level II activities, ensure inspection points, document investigations, and contribute to QA process improvements using Lean Six Sigma and QA tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with minimum 1 year of related experience.
  • Knowledge in Quality Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, Configuration Management, Supplier Management, Audits, Inspection techniques, or Manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of design, engineering, fabrication, integration, test and launch of space-flight hardware.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electronic hardware assurance methods (inspection, test, analysis).
  • Experience developing and maintaining QA processes, plans and procedures; risk management knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write reports.
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Hardware Record Certification Reviews (HRCRs) and Support Equipment Certification Reviews (SECRs).
  • Prepare reviews, set up structures, coordinate meetings and document discussions.
  • Track action items through mission Launch and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Collaborate with HQA Leads, Mission Assurance, Cognizant Engineers and project personnel.
  • Perform Hardware QA Level II activities; verify inspection points and workmanship standards.
  • Investigate Nonconforming Products or Corrective Actions and support QA processes.
  • Apply QA tools (Lean Six Sigma, Control Charts, Pareto) to improve practices.
