Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory seeks a Software Quality Assurance Engineer III to help assure our software across earth and space missions. You will evaluate approaches, determine resolutions, and work within the Software and System Assurance, Technology and Research 1122 Group in a collaborative, innovative environment.

You will plan QA activities, review software lifecycles, and push for improvements in tooling, processes, and risk analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Cyber Defense, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering or similar with typically a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
  • Master degree in similar disciplines with 4 years of related experience
  • PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of related experience including requirements analysis, design, coding, configuration management, integration and testing.
  • Knowledge of JPL Problem Reporting System and Problem Failure Reports
  • Experience in programming in C, C++, Java and/or Python in UNIX/Linux or real-time environments.
  • Experience with software engineering tools such as Github, and JIRA
  • Experience with Costing and Managing Assurance Activities for JPL Flight Projects
  • Experience with JPL Flight Software Processes
  • Experience with JPL Risk Management for JPL Projects
  • Experience with JPL and NASA Quality Assurance Programs
  • Ability to learn technical knowledge quickly and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-value Software Quality Assurance Engineering for mission-critical software.
  • Plan and cost appropriate Software Assurance activities tailored to a project.
  • Review and assess software development throughout projects' lifecycles.
  • Improve software infrastructure, processes, systems, and tools in the group.
  • Explore new tools and techniques to improve software quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Investigate model-based assurance, static code analysis, independent verification, and software in ASICs/FPGAs.
