Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. in Hampton, VA, seeks an entry to early career Mechanical Engineer with experience in Materials & Processes and Contamination Control to support spaceflight hardware.

The position is onsite at NASA Langley Research Center and will develop hardware requirements, assess materials and processes for spaceflight environments, oversee contamination control during assembly, storage and testing, and communicate findings to engineering and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering.
• Experience with Contamination Control for spaceflight hardware.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials, and their processing and limitations.
• Ability to work independently under general direction.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• US citizenship or Permanent Residence.

Responsibilities

• Generate processes used on contamination sensitive spaceflight hardware across life cycle phases.
• Assess hardware design for material selection and processing issues.
• Develop reports, presentations and other documentation.
• Generate contamination control procedures.
• Know acceptance standards for spaceflight hardware applications.
• Attend meetings and discuss issues in design, analysis, qualification and acceptance reports.
• Oversee contamination prevention during all life cycle phases.
