Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is seeking a Spacecraft Thermal Engineer I/II based in Long Beach, CA, responsible for thermal design, analysis, testing and validation of space vehicles. You will perform thermal modeling, support design improvements, and deliver results for internal leadership and investors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in aerospace/mechanical engineering, thermal engineering experience, and U.S. citizenship; multiple seniority levels exist.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field.
• Thermal engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal modeling and analysis of space vehicles.
• Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance, resources, risk, cost and schedule.
• Identify and resolve thermal design, acceptance and performance issues for components and assemblies.
• Design and execute thermal tests for space vehicle components and assemblies.
• Validate thermal models using test and flight data.
• Liaise with program and engineering staff on thermal design and test matters.
• Identify and research potential vendors of thermal control materials.
