Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Austin, Texas is seeking a Spacecraft Systems Engineer to drive the development of Blue Ghost and Elytra spacecraft from concept through flight. You will work with design engineering, manufacturing, integration, test and launch teams to ensure a thoroughly tested, reliable vehicle that meets system requirements.

Qualifications

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years in an interdisciplinary spacecraft project role.
  • Strong first-principles knowledge across orbital mechanics, controls, dynamics, propulsion.
  • Experience leading hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Familiar with ASME/MIL/ASTM/NASA standards and SE practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Create system-level designs, interfaces, and budgets for fluid, electrical and software domains.
  • Own requirements development, flowdown, and vehicle-level test plans.
  • Lead system-level trades, design reviews and data reviews.
  • Ensure issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate change control, risk reviews, and deliverable tracking.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and integration teams; travel for offsite tests.
  • Provide surge support during demanding missions and lunar operations.
