Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. is seeking an experienced Spacecraft Structures Analyst (Opto-Mechanical Focus) to join our San Jose team. The role emphasizes full lifecycle structural ownership, from early concept analysis to detailed FEM and test support.

You will integrate data, assess risk, and influence design choices in a fast-moving startup environment. You will lead structural testing activities, develop test plans, and collaborate with suppliers while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years (BS+8 / MS+6) in spacecraft or aerospace structural analysis.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Experience designing and executing structural tests for spacecraft.

Responsibilities

  • Full lifecycle ownership of structures from quick-and-dirty early analysis for conceptual design to detailed finite element modeling to test support.
  • Linear and nonlinear static analysis
  • Modal, frequency, and random response analyses
  • Model correlation to test data
  • Root causes analysis
  • Coupled loads analysis
  • Scoping test plans and writing test reports
  • Find solutions balancing risk and cost with program needs
  • Create quick concepts and models for early program phases
  • Establish engineering standards and tools to instill rigor across the team
  • Define and drive mechanical/structural validation and test approach
  • Plan, execute and run post-test analysis and reduction on vibration and shock tests
