Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Structural Dynamics Engineer to perform dynamic analysis on spacecraft and lunar vehicles for NASA programs. You will execute finite element model checks, develop Python scripts, and support vibroacoustic and modal analyses, ensuring model correlation with test data.

Ideal candidate holds a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree with strong communication skills and experience in MSC NASTRAN/FEMAP, Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience with finite element model manipulation and coupled loads analysis.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C++.
• Proficiency with MSC NASTRAN and FEMAP as pre/post-processor.

Responsibilities

• Perform finite element model checks, dynamic model reductions, coupled loads analysis and interpret results.
• Develop and run simulation scripts, typically in Python.
• Perform vibroacoustic analysis on finite element models for acoustic testing.
• Conduct modal analysis and identify critical modes for components or systems.
• Review modal and structural data (analytical and test) and document results.
• Develop/test plans and procedures and document results.
