Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Stress Analyst on Merritt Island, FL, to develop and validate spacecraft structural loads for safe spaceflight. The role requires hands-on analysis, data interpretation from tests, and FE model development to support launch and landing events.

The position emphasizes proficiency with FEA tools, a BS in engineering, and 1+ year in dynamics, with a culture of safety and collaboration at Blue Origin.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in the prediction/validation of low and/or high frequency structural dynamics and loads, in addition to finite element modeling
  • Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party tools).
  • Acceleration, shock, and vibration measurement and data interpretation of ground and flight tests.
  • Modeling, simulation, and verification of spacecraft launch, in-space burns, and landing events.
  • Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests.
  • General loads development for spacecraft and related ground systems.
  • Support configuration development and trade studies.
