Job summary

AST SpaceMobile in Midland, Texas seeks a Production Technician I (MLI Fabrication) to fabricate, assemble, and install Multi-Layer Insulation for spacecraft. You will perform blanket layup, cutting, stitching, taping, and hardware installation under close engineering direction.

Candidates should have at least 1 year in manufacturing or aerospace work, a High School diploma or GED, and strong manual dexterity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; aerospace certifications are a plus.
• Minimum 1 year in manufacturing, fabrication, aviation maintenance, aerospace production, or related hands-on production.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow work instructions.
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble Multi‑Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets for satellite and spacecraft applications.
• Perform blanket cutting, layup, stitching, taping, trimming, and hardware installation activities.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and manufacturing specifications.
• Inspect fabricated components to ensure compliance with quality and workmanship standards.
• Maintain accurate production documentation and manufacturing records.
• Support installation of MLI blankets and thermal protection systems on flight hardware.
• Utilize hand tools, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow cleanroom protocols, contamination control requirements, and ESD procedures when applicable.
• Identify defects, non‑conformances, or quality concerns and communicate findings to supervisors and engineering teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing process enhancements.
• Adhere to all company safety, quality, and production requirements.
