Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer I to join the Long Beach, CA team. You will develop high-performance satellite systems and bus configurations, owning designs from concept to production while working hands-on with flight hardware.

You will perform hand‑calcs and FEA to support informed design decisions, lead reviews, and drive product definition through CAD and production drawings. A DoD clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering required.
• Experience as a mechanical engineer.
• CAD modeling and drawing experience.
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop high performance satellite systems and bus configurations for customers.
• Own component designs from conceptual design through production, test, and operation.
• Perform hand-calcs and FEA to drive design decisions.
• Lead key component design, manufacturing, and test reviews.
• Create and maintain product definitions through CAD, drawings, and procedures.
• Manage development schedules, vendors, budgets, and other deliverables.
