Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC, Texas-based, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Crew Starship program. You will own the design, analysis, and manufacturing of structures and mechanisms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and mission readiness for lunar and planetary operations.

This role emphasizes rapid prototyping, trade studies, and close interaction with NASA and suppliers to optimize cost, schedule, and performance for high-risk space hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience with mechanical design and analysis.
  • 3+ years preferred in mechanical design and analysis.
  • Experience with aerospace structures and mechanisms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, analysis, and manufacturing of next generation structures and mechanisms for Starship vehicles needed for long duration and landing missions (examples include the solar deploy system, landing legs, and lunar elevator).
  • Perform hand calculations and FEA to develop, assess, and optimize designs.
  • Lead design reviews internally and externally with suppliers and customers (e.g., NASA).
  • Be responsible for project delivery timeline from early design through production, launch, and recovery.
