Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop satellite structures and subsystems. You will perform structural analyses, optimize designs for weight and manufacturability, and collaborate with electrical, thermal, and propulsion teams to ensure integrated spacecraft systems.

Create engineering drawings, specs, and test reports while participating in AIT and environmental testing to validate designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
• 2+ years of mechanical design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software for 3D modeling and drafting (NX, SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of FEA and hand calculations for structural analysis.
• Familiarity with GD&T and aerospace manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs and models for satellite structures, subsystems, and components.
• Conduct structural analyses to ensure performance and reliability.
• Optimize designs for weight reduction, material selection, and manufacturability.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials and processes for satellite mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other subsystems.
• Participate in the assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) process of satellite hardware.
• Perform environmental testing, such as statics, vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum tests.
• Prepare technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and test reports.
