Job summary

Columbus Technologies and Services is seeking a mechanical engineering professional to generate 3-D models and drawings for spacecraft electronics packaging and GSE. You will define tasks, procure resources, and work in a collaborative setting with engineers, technicians, and project staff to deliver on time and within budget.

The role requires CAD proficiency (NX/SolidWorks), experience in mechanical design, and the ability to perform trade studies and design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with 3+ years of related experience
• Master's degree with 1+ year of related experience
• PhD with 0 years of related experience
• Working CAD knowledge in Unigraphics NX and/or SolidWorks

Responsibilities

• Generate 3-D design models and drawings for spacecraft and instrument electronics subsystem and GSE
• Define tasks and acquire resources to complete tasks on time and on budget
• Collaborate to design and develop support equipment for project and research applications
• Prepare for technical design and manufacturing status reviews and close review action items
• Lead and present design and analyses reviews
• Interface with engineers, designers, analysts, machine shop, QA and project staff
• Plan and write work instructions to fabricate and assemble electronic packaging and cable harnesses
• Work independently and under supervision as required
