Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. seeks a Wiring Harness Engineer to design and integrate electrical and optical harnessing for spacecraft platforms. You’ll own end-to-end cable harness architecture, routing, and manufacturing, ensuring survival of launch vibrations and thermal vacuum conditions.

You’ll collaborate with avionics, mechanical, and optical teams to route power, high-speed data, and optical signals in tight spaces, leading prototyping, testing, and flight integration with high ownership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering.
  • 2+ years designing and routing complex aerospace wire harness assemblies.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software and harness routing modules.
  • Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings, flat patterns, and BOMs.
  • Hands-on experience building, prototyping, and troubleshooting wire harnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical roadmap and architecture for electrical and optical harnessing across all spacecraft platforms.
  • Create detailed harness schematics, routing diagrams, 3D CAD models, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Design robust cable harness assemblies meeting mass, volume, and thermal constraints.
  • Select space-rated connectors, wire types, shielding materials, and other components.
  • Define electrical harness testing protocols and lead their execution for flight readiness and reliability.
  • Lead prototype assembly, environmental testing (vibration, TVAC), and qualification of harness hardware.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and optical teams to ensure clearance and interfaces.
  • Support integration and test campaigns on the manufacturing floor and during final assembly.
