Job summary

Amazon Leo DevOps in Redmond, WA is seeking a Spacecraft Hardware Development Specialist to take hardware from concept to production. You will partner with design engineers to iterate quickly, qualify hardware for space, and support the full development arc from prototyping to rigorous qualification testing.

The role involves mechanical and electrical assembly, lab space development, and creating custom automation for test and build needs, with strong documentation and deadline discipline.

Qualifications

  • Oscilloscope and measurement devices experience.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Electronics, Mechanics, Product Design, Manufacturing Technologies, or other STEM discipline.
  • 4+ years in a Space/Aerospace/Military/Precision fabrication/Test environment.
  • 1+ year experience with precision mechanical and electrical fabrication/testing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights above 6 feet.

Responsibilities

  • Work with minimal guidance and instruction.
  • Partner with design engineers to iterate hardware quickly and qualify hardware for space.
  • Support hardware through full development arc: prototyping, development builds, testing, qualification testing.
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly of spacecraft mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and test setup issues to root cause.
  • Develop and adapt lab spaces and equipment for evolving needs, track calibrations.
  • Develop custom automation equipment to support test/build needs.
  • Maintain clear work documentation and test records.
  • Accurately estimate time for tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary projects and take ownership of success.
  • Familiarity with aerospace/space quality standards for mechanical and electrical components.
