Job summary

Katalyst Space Technologies seeks a versatile engineer to build robotic spacecraft and lead GNC-centric architecture from concept to flight. You will collaborate across hardware and software teams to implement autonomous controls for space missions.

Open to 0–3 years experience in GNC; the role emphasizes autonomy, rigorous testing, and fast-paced startup dynamics within ITAR-conscious programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering discipline.
• 0–3 years in guidance, navigation, and control.
• Software development in Python.
• Experience deploying GNC sensors and algorithms in real projects.
• Able to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Proven ability to lead a project from concept to completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Architect solutions for space mission objectives with a focus on autonomy.
• Evaluate techniques incl. ML, physics-informed, stochastic, Kalman Filters.
• Assist in proposal capture with feasibility analyses.
• Develop architecture and lead GNC team from concept to flight.
• Design algorithms and tools for orbit determination and state estimation.
• Collaborate with software and GNC teams to implement algorithms in flight software.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Develop CONOPS balancing thermal, power, and communications.
• Provide mission operations training and support.
