Job summary

LASP at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks an experienced space electronics engineer to augment the on-site engineering team. The role focuses on developing flight and ground electronics for science instruments across mission classes, with strong emphasis on PWBA design, high-speed data buses, and radiation-tolerant electronics.

The position is hourly and requires presence on-site during system test and debugging phases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years experience in space flight electronics design.
• Knowledge of LASP production system process and standards.
• Experience designing electronics for space environments (radiation, thermal, vibration).
• Expert knowledge of PWB design techniques including impedance controlled traces and high bandwidth data bus design.

Responsibilities

• Support scientists and engineering teams developing next generation space instrument electronics.
• Convert measurement objectives into hardware design requirements with instrument scientists.
• Develop electronic subsystems for detector readout, power distribution, data processing, and instrument control.
• Perform EEE part selection and derating to meet environmental requirements.
• Develop and build test GSE; document assembly and test of PWBA.
