Job summary

Astro Digital designs, builds, and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions. The Satellite Electrical Manufacturing Engineer will focus on electrical manufacturing, harness fabrication, and PCB assembly in a high‑reliability environment.

The role involves developing manufacturing instructions, managing BOMs and routings, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve production processes on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 3–8 years of experience in electrical manufacturing, harness fabrication, or electronics assembly in aerospace/defense/high-reliability environments.
• Deep expertise in harness manufacturing, connector terminations, crimping, wire routing, and electrical schematic interpretation.
• Hands-on experience creating detailed manufacturing work instructions and production travelers from engineering drawings and schematics.
• Strong knowledge of PCB subassembly manufacturing, SMT, fine-pitch hand soldering, and microelectronics rework.
• Understanding of electrical testing techniques, DMMs, power supplies, breakout boxes, and harness continuity test equipment.
• Experience in cleanroom, ESD-controlled, and FOD-controlled manufacturing environments.
• Excellent cross-functional communication to bridge engineering design teams and floor production technicians.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed manufacturing work instructions, wiring procedures, and rework dispositions.
• Develop and manage Manufacturing Orders, routings, travelers, and BOMs for harness and subassemblies.
• Provide hands‑on support for wire harness fabrication, terminations, PCB integration.
• Write engineering rework instructions and NCR dispositions for PCB mods and wire repairs.
• Develop, optimize, and standardize harness routing, solar laydown, potting, and adhesive dispensing.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Test, and Systems Engineering to drive DFM/DFT for spacecraft electronics.
• Define electrical test procedures and harness continuity checks.
• Support NCR investigations and continuous improvement to boost yield and throughput.
