Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. in Playa Vista, CA is seeking a highly skilled Avionics Harness Design Engineer to design, analyze, and verify electrical harnesses for spacecraft and satellites.

You will collaborate with systems, mechanical, and fabrication teams to ensure harnesses meet EMI/EMC, spaceflight standards, and survive harsh space environments. Qualifications

• U.S. Person status is required due to export controls.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical harness design for aerospace, space systems, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of grounding, shielding, power distribution, and signal integrity.
• Experience with aerospace wiring standards and spaceflight environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for electrical harnesses, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and 3D routing models.
• Select suitable connectors, backshells, wires, and shielding materials designed for space environments.
• Collaborate with systems and mechanical engineering teams to meet system requirements and integration needs.
• Perform electrical analyses (voltage drop, derating, signal integrity, thermal effects) to validate harness performance.
• Ensure designs comply with EMI/EMC and spaceflight standards (NASA, ESA, IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-STD-810).
• Conduct environmental assessments for extreme space conditions (thermal, radiation, mechanical stresses).
• Develop test plans for harness qualification and environmental testing.
• Coordinate with testing teams for thermal vacuum, vibration, and radiation testing.
• Address performance issues and implement design improvements.
• Generate BOMs, ICDs, and manufacturing drawings.
• Maintain records of iterations, checks, and test results.
• Work with cross-functional teams to align harness designs with system goals and integration requirements.
• Support harness installation, integration, troubleshooting during spacecraft assembly and testing.
