Job summary

General Galactic designs, builds, and flies advanced spacecraft, pushing the edge of what is possible beyond Earth. The Electrical Engineer will own end-to-end electrical system development, from schematic capture through flight hardware bring-up, with opportunities to expand responsibilities as the company grows.

Qualifications

  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of electrical hardware development experience, preferably in aerospace.
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring-up, and hardware debugging.
  • Experience designing analog, digital, power, and embedded electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with CAN, RS-422, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and discrete I/O.
  • Experience with wiring harness design, grounding, shielding, and EMC considerations.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, loads, and power supplies.
  • Experience with ECAD tools (Altium, KiCad, OrCAD).
  • Understanding of derating, radiation effects, thermal constraints, and high-reliability design.
  • Experience in environmental testing, qualification, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup or hands-on environment.
  • First-principles problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver spacecraft electrical systems meeting power and interface requirements.
  • Own schematic capture, PCB layout, fabrication, assembly, and board bring-up.
  • Design avionics, power electronics, sensor interfaces, and microcontroller hardware.
  • Develop and integrate wiring harnesses, connectors, grounding, shielding, and EC documents.
  • Perform bench testing, debugging, root-cause analysis, and design iteration.
  • Support system integration, environmental testing, qualification, and acceptance testing.
  • Maintain design documentation, schematics, BOMs, and test reports.
