Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a UX Technical Designer on the Integrated Ground Systems team to shape the user experience for mission operators and engineers who monitor and control our launch vehicles. You’ll own discovery, end-to-end design, and pixel-perfect prototypes in Figma. A strong portfolio, a Bachelor’s in HCI or related field (or 5+ years), and collaboration skills are required.

U.S. citizenship or eligible status is mandatory; experience with accessibility, design systems, and modern design

Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio is required. Your portfolio reflects shipped products, not just concept work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent years (5+ years) of hands-on experience as a Product Designer.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-moving, highly collaborative team environment.
  • High proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Frame the Problem, Not Just the Solution: You own the critical "discovery" phase, using research, data, and deep collaboration to define the right problems to solve on behalf of the mission.
  • Own the End-to-End Design Process : Move from ambiguity to clarity by designing the complete user experience. You will drive the process from initial user flows and wireframes to deliver pixel-perfect visual designs and interactive prototypes in Figma.
  • Be the Voice of the User : Embody a deep sense of empathy for our operators. You will engage them directly to understand their world, workflows, and pain points, translating that insight into artifacts including user journeys, scenarios, and task analyses to serve as the team's guide.
  • Build a Stronger Foundation : A primary mission of this role is to improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of our software. A key part of this effort is actively working to resolve design debt, strengthen and improve our design system and create scalable foundation for future work.
  • Partner with Engineering : Act as a dedicated design partner for developers. You will be responsible for translating user needs into clear design specifications, understanding technical constraints, and ensuring the final product is implemented with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Cultivate a Culture of Humility : Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. You will know how to give and receive sharp, kind feedback to make the entire team better.
