Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks an Experienced Space Thermal Engineer for Englewood, CO. You will lead thermal design, analysis, and testing for satellite missions, coordinating with multiple teams on the development cycle, documentation, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in engineering or related field with progressive engineering experience.
• Familiar with satellite system life cycle including environmental tests, launch, and operations.
• Experience with TVAC, thermal balance testing, instrumentation, model tuning, test plans and procedures.
• Experience with thermal analysis of satellites including interfaces, coatings, radiators, and solar panels.
• Understanding of orbit mechanics and its impact on thermal design.
• Proficiency with Thermal Desktop, SINDA and FLUENT for analyses.
• Knowledge of passive and active thermal management techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform system engineering, design and analysis for studies and missions with a thermal focus from bid through launch and operations.
• Conduct thermal subsystem design, requirement analysis, mission analysis and trade studies.
• Design and specify heat pipes, phase-change materials, conduction bars, radiators, heaters, and cryogenic systems; support testing.
